About Me

Trevor Bessette, Seaside Reclaimed Founder
When I was younger, things like recycling, composting and saving energy weren’t on my radar. When I turned off the lights or turn down the heat, I was thinking about the power bill not the environment. In school, my curriculum didn’t include lessons about where my food came from, who made my clothes or how garbage was dealt with. I spent my childhood and a large part of my adolescence completely unaware of the true impacts that my everyday decisions had on the planet.

It wasn’t until university that I started to become more interested in waste management, sustainability and the impacts of things like fast fashion, plastic pollution, and overconsumption. In the summer of 2017, I set out to find a way that I could help make a positive impact on the planet; all the while enabling and encouraging Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to join me in my quest for a better tomorrow. From this desire, Seaside Reclaimed began to take shape!

Seaside Reclaimed is a local, ethical clothing brand that I created as a driver for change in our province. At its core, Seaside Reclaimed is meant to be an environmentally engaged community of like-minded individuals using everyday choices to make our province a greener place.

Now I'm not an environmental guru or an expert on all aspects of sustainability. I'm a young Newfoundlander looking to make more eco-friendly decisions and to get people talking about the degradation of our environment. There is still so much for me to learn and so many old habits that I'm working to improve upon. As a province, we've got a long way to go in terms of sustainability but, together, day by day, we can start to create a wave of change that will have far reaching positive impacts.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or a relative newbie (like I was not so long ago), I encourage you to join the Seaside Reclaimed community and help us keep our provinces parks, beaches and environment trash free!

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by our site and be sure to check out the YOUR IMPACT page to learn more about our products, how they are made and how we're making a difference!
